Mariagrazia Pelaia on Claudia von Werlhof’s Nell’età del boomerang

Mariagrazia Pelaia is an independent researcher, freelance translator, and editorial collaborator. Since 2002 she has been part of the editorial board of Prometeo, a quarterly on science and history, and since 2008 of the scientific committee of Traduttologia, published by the University of Pescara.

In her Prismatic Readings, she explores interdisciplinary themes through books that invite both humanistic and scientific perspectives—reflecting the core mission of Prometeo.

Her recent three-part article series (1st part – n° 167, Sept 2024 |2nd part – n° 168, Dec 2024 |3rd part – n°169, Mar 2025) discusses Prof. Dr. Claudia von Werlhof’s Nell’età del boomerang. Contributi a una teoria critica del patriarcato, in connection with a work on alchemy.

Rosalie Bertell also belongs in this field: a scientist and a particular kind of humanist, an activist in defense of the planet and all living beings.

Die Ausgabe #3 des BUMERANG, unserer Zeitschrift für Patriarchatskritik, ist online und sie ist eine Wucht!
Sie trägt den Titel „Patriarchat als Technik“ und umfasst Artikel in den Sprachen Deutsch, Englisch, Spanisch und Italienisch.

Aus dem Leitartikel von Claudia von Werlhof:
Der besondere Schachzug in fast allen Debatten über die moderne Gesellschaft, insbesondere
aber ihre „Technik“, besteht darin, deren Entstehung und Entwicklung sowie ihre Zukunft als
quasi „natürliche“ und vor allem „neutrale“, also nicht ideologisch bestimmte, sondern als für „die Menschheit“ und die moderne Zivilisation im Prinzip nützliche, positive und zu begrüßende, ja einzig mögliche vorauszusetzen.
Diese im Voraus stattfindende „Setzung“ (Ernst1993) wird so gut wie nie als eine solche benannt oder gar hinterfragt. Sie wird gar nicht bemerkt, sondern generell „geteilt“. Das Denken der modernen Technik – und Gesellschaft – als grundsätzlich „gute“ ist damit quasi außer Streit gestellt, als ob darüber nicht (mehr) zu reden oder etwas daran zu ändern wäre.
